Lifestyle, Light and Airy Newborn Photography Portraits - Scottie Kate
There was so much love filling baby Scottie Kate's nursery during her in-home, natural light, newborn session. Nestled in the softest blankets and surrounded by the sweetest details her parents carefully chose, she was right at home in the arms of Lindsey and Grant. As they embraced their new roles as Mom and Dad, they had the best support—Lindsey’s mom, lovingly known as Meme. With a gentle touch and a heart full of wisdom, Meme was there every step of the way, offering comfort, guidance, and the kind of help only a grandmother can give. From soothing Scottie Kate between photos to sharing in the quiet joy of this new season, her presence made the session even more special. These early days of parenthood are full of learning and love, and capturing this family’s tender moments together was truly a joy.
What was your pregnancy journey like? Any special moments you’d like to share?
—-Lindsey’s Response: Before I found out I was pregnant with our sweet Scottie Kate, it had already been a season full of stretching and changing (I changed jobs after 8 years with my previous company). Little did I know I’d be stretched in more ways than one that year! Getting to carry my first child and experience the miracle of life in my womb stretched me mentally and physically in the best way. And becoming a mom has stretched my heart to a new capacity of love!
• How did you feel when you found out you were expecting?
—- Lindsey’s Response: It’s hard to describe all the feelings you feel when you find out you’re pregnant. Overwhelming joy, excitement, and a little fear - of the unknown and life changing journey we were about to embark on. There is nothing more special than seeing your baby on the ultrasound for the first time and feeling those little flutter kicks in the womb. Although there is nothing sweeter than holding her in my arms now, I do miss feeling her little kicks in my belly!
• Would you describe your nursery? Did you have a particular theme or style in mind?
— Lindsey’s Response: I would describe our nursery as vintage, girly, sweet and chic. I really wanted a vintage look but still wanted lots of sweet pinks and florals to keep it girly and sweet! r
• Do you have any special items in the nursery that hold sentimental value?
—- Lindsey’s Response: The vintage dresser and chest of drawers were my grandmother’s and have been passed down in our family to my mom, sister, myself, and now to my daughter, Scottie Kate.
• How has your family adjusted to the new addition?
—- Lindsey’s response: It’s unbelievable how much love Grant and I have in our hearts for our baby girl. She truly makes every day better!
• What are you most excited about as you watch your baby grow?
—- Lindsey’s Response: I already get emotional thinking about how quickly she is growing and changing. I’ve always heard the saying “The Days are long but the Years are short” and that is proving true. Some days are tough but we are just trying to enjoy each season because we know how quickly it goes by. We are so lucky to be her parents and get to experience each season of her growing and changing.
Capturing baby Scottie Kate's in-home newborn session was such a joy, from the soft and airy nursery details to the heartfelt moments between this sweet family. These early days of parenthood are fleeting, and having timeless, natural light photography to cherish forever is truly priceless.
